Albi look set to play in France's Pro D2 next season and miss out on European action following a decision by the French League to relegate them due to financial irregularities.
The decision could save Dax from relegation as the team who finished thirteenth in the league may now stay up in the Top 14 and play in the European Challenge Cup instead of the demoted Albi.
French League organisers LNR sanctioned the club in May due to failure to meet certain financial regulations and a subsequent appeal to the FFR (French Rugby Federation) was unsuccessful.
It has been reported that Albi now plan to take the issue to the French Olympic Committee.
