Munster and Irish international lock Paul O'Connell has been called up by Eddie O'Sullivan to the Irish squad that will face Scotland on Saturday next in Croke Park.
The Munster captain hasn't played international rugby since last September in the Rugby World Cup due to a serious back injury but looks set to return for the Six Nations game against Scotland. O'Connell will start the game on the replacement bench, but following recent action with Munster in the Magners League, is in line to earn his fiftieth international cap if he gets some game-time.
O'Connell was a key player in the victorious Munster team that lifted the Heineken Cup in 2006 and was also nominated for an IRB World Player of the Year Award in the same year.
The international return of the Limerick native is excellent news for Munster fans as the province look ahead to the Heineken Cup quarter-final against Gloucester at the Kingsholm Stadium on Saturday, 5 April at 5.30 (local time).
