ERC can confirm that the Federation Française de Rugby (FFR) has withdrawn its application to host the 2014 Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup finals, due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding the availability of the Stade de France.
Results of scans confirmed the centre suffered a grade-two tear in Ireland's Six Nations win over Italy on Saturday, ruling him out of Leinster's Heineken Cup quarter-final against Wasps on Saturday week and, should the province qualify, the semi-finals on April 21-22.
If O'Driscoll were to regain full fitness inside four weeks, there is, of course, the possibility that he could feature in any potential clash with Biarritz or Northampton.
However, Ireland boss Eddie O'Sullivan's most recent comments on the injury would appear to suggest that he would be unwilling to allow his captain be rushed back into competitive action.
"It is the same hamstring he damaged before, only in a different place," he is quoted as saying by the Irish Independent.
"We have to be careful to get it right, especially as he has done it before. We don't want it to become chronic."
Leinster will find the quarter-finals a lot more daunting without their experienced captain who has 45 Heineken Cup caps and a tally of 20 Heineken Cup tries.
