Wales and Ospreys utility back Gavin Henson will not feature in the crunch Heineken Cup quarter-final against Munster on Sunday 12 April at Thomond Park due to ligament damage.
The injury to his right ankle was sustained during last weekend's EDF Energy semi-final defeat to Gloucester when the 27-year-old was forced to limp off the field of play. An update from the Ospreys physiotherapist issued on Monday evening confirmed the regions fears predicting a four to six week recovery period which rules the Swansea star out of the Heineken Cup quarter-final and places any Lions call in doubt.
The news follows the earlier withdrawal of fellow international Lee Byrne who will also be unavailable to Sean Holley for the trip to Limerick due to another ankle injury.
