European Challenge Cup round up
18 October 2008, 8:17 pm
There were wins for Worcester and Overmach Rugby Parma in Sunday's European Challenge Cup matches
The English side powered past Bucuresti 17-53 , while Spanish side Cetransa el Salvador prived no match for Parma. They lost 59-21 despite being cheered on by a home crowd of 4,000

On Saturday, Glen Jackson steered Saracens to an away win over Viadana with a kicking masterclass.

Saracens fly-half Jackson showed ice-cool composure to boot 23 points, including seven penalties and a conversion on a warm night in Northern Italy.

The Guinness Premiership outfit cruised to victory over Mont de Marsan last weekend but they were forced to wait until the 70th minute to seal this win when Neil De Kock crossed.

Eddie Jones' men had fallen behind in the second minute when Viadana fly-half Charles Hore hammered home a penalty after early pressure from the hosts.

But two long-range penalties from Jackson put the visitors into a slender 6-3 lead.

Hore and Jackson exchanged penalties before the New Zealander's sixth penalty edged Saracens 18-12 clear.

Gavin Quinnell was sin-binned for the hosts and Sarries took advantage when de Kock broke free from halfway to race home before Kameli Ratuvou's last minute try clinched the victory.

Northampton cruised to their second successive European Challenge Cup win over French opposition with a convincing 51-7 win over Montpellier.

The Saints hammered Toulon last weekend but it was Montpellier's turn to feel the power of the Guinness Premiership outfit at Franklin Gardens.

First half tries from Scott Gray, Joe Ansbro and a penalty try allowed the Saints to ease home with Chris Ashton gaining the bonus-point in the 56th minute.

Flanker Gray crashed over inside the opening two minutes and although Goncalo Uva responded for the visitors, Northampton extended their margin to 18-7 thanks to centre Ansbro's try.

Montpellier lost a men in either half with Julien Tomas red-carded for punching and Fabian Rofes for stamping.

The hosts capitalised through a penalty try before Ashton's, Soane Tongauiha and Paul Diggen sealed victory.

Rovigo bounced back from a hammering by London Irish last weekend to grab their first win in Pool 1 with a 24-11 triumph over Dax.
