Worcester Warriors full-back Chris Latham has told fans he will leave Sixways at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old took the unusual step of letting the club's supporters know with a posting on the club website fans forum
"Not having a family support unit around us, we feel it would be in our best interest to return home to Australia," Latham told the forum.
Latham joined the Warriors in 2008 and has played 34 games for the side, including five appearances in the Amlin Challenge Cup.
"Chris has been inspirational and his work ethic has been truly remarkable," said Warrior's director of rugby Mike Ruddock
"Having had the opportunity to work with him first hand, I can see why he was by far the best full back in the world for so many years.
"His dedication to the job and his commitment on the field has been inspirational for all at the club to witness."
Latham has praised the support he has had from the fans since he arrived at Sixways.
"From the first game I had in the Worcester shirt against Ulster, I was blown away with the support you guys give at home and more impressively away," he said.
"This to me was no truer then last week at Gloucester. "I was once again overwhelmed by the support we received, this and the fact that you the supporters have been nothing but fantastic to me."
