Last season's IRB Sevens Player of the Year, Mikaele 'Lightning' Pesamino, has signed for Sale Sharks.
Pesamino scored 56 tries in the World Series as Samoa captured the World Sevens title. He has played for Auckland in the Air NZ Cup since 2007, and has high level experience not only of rugby union but Australian Rules Football. Born in Vailele on the Samoan island of Upolu, the speedster is 26 years old, 1.88m (6 ft 2ins) tall and weighs 90 kgs (14st 2lbs.) and will be a major addition to the English club both in the Premiership and the Amlin Challenge Cup.
Sale Sharks head coach Mike Brewer said, "This is a massive signing for the club. Mikaele is incredibly quick and has wanted to play in the Premiership. He had the choice of joining other clubs in the UK but he has chosen Sale Sharks and I am sure our supporters will be very impressed with him."
Sale will take on Brive, Petrarca Rugby and Cetransa El Salvador in Pool 2 of next season's Amlin Challenge Cup
