Amlin, Title Partner of the Amlin Challenge Cup and Premium Partner of the Heineken Cup, are delighted to award kit and equipment to a youth development scheme chosen by club's 2009/2010 Amlin Challenge Cup man of the match.
Newcastle Falcons scrum half Micky Young has returned to his roots by handing over a £1,000 kit donation to his local club, West Hartlepool RFC.
West's Mini rugby players are the beneficiaries of the training gear which was donated by Amlin, title sponsors of the Amlin Challenge Cup.
As man-of-the-match in the Amlin Challenge Cup game against Montauban back in December, Young got to decide which local junior club received the kit. And as he admitted at the handover, there was only ever going to be one winner.
"I think I would've been hung if I'd chosen any other club than West Hartlepool," joked the England Saxons star.
"I've played for them since I was five years old, my brother is still a regular player here and my parents have been involved with the club for years. My mum was actually my first ever coach when I started out in the Minis here, and I still get down as much as I can when Falcons commitments allow.
"It's great that Amlin have given me the opportunity to hand over this new training kit for the Minis section, and hopefully the kids will make good use of it."
"They have a big emphasis on their junior set-up, which is fantastic for the area, and hopefully this kit donation from Amlin will help them on their a bit way as they continue to rebuild."
Emphasising how important it is that professional players engage with their local clubs, Young said: "It's vital, because behind every single Guinness Premiership or international player there are a number of club coaches, school coaches, administrators or supporters who have helped them along the way.
"Everybody has come from somewhere, and you can never forget the grass roots aspect of the game because that's what underpins the whole sport."
