Flutey's season cut short

The 30-year-old England and British Lion will not add to his total of five Brive appearences this term after a return of his long-standing shoulder injury .

made a high-profile switch to the Top 14 last year but has only played a handful of matches due to a succession of injuries and his international commitments

A shoulder injury suffered whilst on duty for the British & Irish Lions in South Africa last summer limited his early season contribution with the Kiwi-born star forced to undergo surgery that sidelined him for three months. He returned to fitness in time for the Six Nations earlier this year but a thigh injury ruled him out of the Championship opener against Wales. The former Wasps play-maker recovered to start all of England's remaining fixtures but struggled to find his best form.

He took part in his side's 17-20 home defeat to the Scarlets in round 6, but was unable to mark his Heineken debut for the club with a score.

Flutey returned to domestic duty with Brive earlier this month but he has since aggravated the same shoulder that was operated on last year with reports suggesting that he may require further surgery that would rule him out of England's summer tour to Australia and New Zealand.
