The world of rugby was turned on its head in Paris in 1995 when the game was declared ‘open’. But that momentous decision brought about the birth of ERC and, with it, the advent of truly competitive, cross-border European competition. As ERC moves into its 15th season of organising the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup it has decided to celebrate what has been deemed one of the true phenomenon’s of the global game.
The 31 October, 2009 marked the 14th birthday of the first game played in its inaugural competition, the Heineken Cup and throughout the 15th anniversary season ERC will honour the greats of both tournaments, on and off the field.
