Jamie Heaslip was the Heineken Man of the Match
Match report
The brawn of Leinster's firecracker pack proved far too much for a disappointing Toulouse as the Irishmen kept their Pool 6 qualification hopes alive with a thoroughly deserved 20-13 victory at RDS.

Led from the front by man-of-the-match No8 Jamie Heaslip the Leinster eight relentlessly tore into their visitors from the word go, denying the French giants any opportunity to exhibit their customary style and swagger.

The home team were ahead as early the fourth minute when Felipe Contepomi slotted a penalty from close range but it took until the 32nd minute for Brian O'Driscoll's side to press home their dominance.

With Toulouse second-row Gregory Lamboley in the bin for persistent offending at the breakdown, Leinster took the opportunity to give the ball some width as Contepomi found O'Driscoll in midfield. The skipper was tackled well but managed to slip a pass to the sweeping Contepomi who in turn found Luke Fitzgerald with a glorious back door pass to send the winger over.

Valentin Courrent did manage pull three points back for the visitors before the break and after 54 minutes he narrowed the gap to four points but the comeback was to be short lived as Leinster extended their lead two minutes later.

After a series of phases taking play left and right, in which Contepomi was everywhere the ball found its way to the Argentine maestro who once again fed Luke Fitzgerald and the young winger cut in for his second. The fly-half converted and his finesse was proving the perfect compliment to tireless graft of his pack.

Toulouse, being Toulouse, were not finished though and after a period of largely uninspired attacking finally found a spark.

Substitute Jean Bouilhou made a half break down the blindside and crucially offloaded to speedster Cedric Heymans who raced down the left touchline. The winger looked as if he might go all the way but after some evasive weaving and jinking fed another substitute, Yves Donguy, who scored with virtually the first touch.

Courrent converted to narrow the margin to four points once again but Heaslip and his fellow forwards were totally unperturbed and drove forward again and, after plugging away at the Toulouse line unsuccessfully for a number of phases, Contepomi stepped up to drop a goal and secure the result for his side.

Leinster still need a result at Welford Road next weekend to progress but will be buoyed by this result, while Toulouse, who did gain a vital bonus point, will have to overcome Edinburgh at home to secure their passage.

First half timeline
1LeinsterLeinster captain Brian O'Driscoll makes his 50th Heineken Cup appearance in a must win game for his side. The Irishmen are six points off the pace in Pool 6 so need to both their remaining games.
1ToulouseToulouse, who haven't beaten Leinster in Dublin for 10 years, can put one foot in the knockout stages with a victory at RDS having recorded three wins out of four in their group games to date.
3LeinsterLeinster win a midfield line out and a strong carry from Bernard Jackman gives his team good field position and quick ball frees Kearney down the left but he is hauled down.
4Leinster
Penalty kick - F Contepomi
From an ensuing penalty, Contepomi makes no mistake and gives his side a deserved early lead after an ambitious and energetic start from the home team.
7ToulouseToulouse employ pick and go tactics with their first spell of possession but some fierce counter-rucking gives Leinster the put in at a scrum. The home side look far more switched on in the early exchanges.
9LeinsterLeinster again attack down the left and O'Driscoll grubbers the ball behind the defence. Poitrenaud covers well though and feeds Heymans who clears well.
11ToulouseToulouse's shaky start continues as Kelleher throws a wild pass from a set scrum move. More dynamic play at the breakdown wins Leinster the scrum again. Leinster are refusing to allow their visitors to settle down.
16ToulouseBoth sides free the ball wide as they exchange possession but poor passing execution hinders both teams as the game becomes a little bit scrappy.
18LeinsterA delicate Courrent chip gives Leinster a lineout metres form their own line and they deal with it well to clear towards halfway.
21LeinsterMalcolm O'Kelly leaps beautifully to steal a Toulouse lineout after more back and forth kicking Leinster attack purposefully down the right with some lovely offloading play.
22LeinsterWayne Barnes awards a penalty from an infringement at the ruck and Leinster choose to kick to the corner.
24LeinsterToulouse infringe again from the lineout and Mr Barnes decides enough id enough and gives Lamboley a yellow. Leinster kick to the corner once more.
24Toulouse
Yellow card - G Lamboley
25LeinsterLeinster attack again at close range but Luke Fitzgerald puts a pass down. Wayne Barnes calls them back for another Leinster penalty though and the pressure remains firmly on Toulouse.
26LeinsterLeinster go again but another handling error, this time from O'Kelly surrenders possession. From the ensuing scrum Leinster put on a powerful drive and Kelleher is forced to minor, conceding possession.
30LeinsterWave after wave of Leinster carries are kept out on the line by Toulouse who have done very well not to concede. O'Kelly went closest but he was expertly turned by Kelleher to deny the score.
32Leinster
Try - L Fitzgerald
This time Leinster go wide. O'Dricsoll is tackled but manages to offload to Contepomi who in turn pops a classy back door pass to Luke Fitzgerald who evades the cover defence to touch down.
33Leinster
Conversion - F Contepomi
Contepomi adds the extras and Leinster finally have a score line to match their dominance in the game so far.
35ToulouseToulouse back to full strength as Lamboley returns from the bin with his side in desperate need of something to spark their afternoon having spent the majority of first 35 minutes camped in their own half.
40Toulouse
Penalty kick - V Courrent
That spark soon arrives as Heymans darts in from the blindside wing, almost cutting clean through the Leinster line. A penalty is awarded from the breakdown and Courrent makes no mistake.
40 +3LeinsterToulouse attack again putting some width on the ball early but more vigorous counter rucking form Leinster wins them a penalty. The home side's ferocity at the breakdown has been a feature of the first half.
Second half timeline
41LeinsterLeinster have been by far the superior side in the first half. The pack has been rampant, not giving Toulouse an inch. If the visitors are to recover in the second half their forwards will have to match that determination.
41Toulouse
Substitution - J Elissalde on for B Kelleher
41Leinster
Substitution - C Healy on for S Knoop
42ToulouseFritz breaks clear and feeds Lamboley who finds Nyanga meters from the line but they turnover possession and Contepomi clears. Toulouse attack again through Poitrenaud but again spill the ball.
42ToulouseToulouse are looking far more purposeful in the opening minutes of the second period but their ball retention is letting them down.
44LeinsterLeinster attack from behind their own line and make good ground through O'Driscoll and Gleeson but they now lose the ball in contact and Heymans is almost put clear. The second half has begun at a frantic pace.
45ToulouseLeinster's dominance at the scrum has been compromised by the introduction of young Cian Healy at the break and Toulouse win a penalty after a powerful set piece. Courrent is off target though.
49ToulouseA scorching run and a beautiful inside ball from Heymans is wasted by second row Lamboley who was simply not on the same wave length as the ace winger as he drops the ball with the line at his mercy.
51LeinsterScrum half Keane has his clearance kick charged down by Nyanga but it falls kindly to Contepomi who feeds Kearney to clear. It is Leinster's turn to defend their line now as Toulouse enjoy territorial adavantage.
51Leinster
Substitution - G Easterby on for C Keane
52Toulouse
Penalty kick - V Courrent
Kunavore cuts the Leinster line and feeds Courrent. He is tackled but there are Leinster players come in from the side at the breakdown and a penalty is awarded, Courrent slots the three points.
54Leinster
Try - L Fitzgerald
Leinster win possession back from the restart after a charge down and surge towards the line. After several attacks in which Contepomi is central, the ball is worked right and Fitzgerald skips over for his second.
54Toulouse
Substitution - R Millo-Chluski on for G Lamboley
55Leinster
Conversion - F Contepomi
57Toulouse
Substitution - J Bouilhou on for Y Nyanga
57Toulouse
Substitution - S Perugini on for J Poux
59LeinsterContepomi is in the zone now. He gathers his own perfectly weighted chip to go clear of the Toulouse defence but his neat pop to Fitzgerald is put to ground by the winger. Leinster have been cursed by handling errors.
62ToulouseAgain poor skill level sees a scoring chance go begging. Courrent receives a loose ball in space and has a two man overlap to his left but a shocking pass is mishandled and the chance has gone.
63Toulouse
Substitution - Y Donguy on for M Kunavore
63Toulouse
Substitution - V Lacombe on for W Servat
65ToulouseToulouse gain field position through several phases of possession and a raking kick down the right touch line from Florian Fritz. Leinster win the lineout but a sliced O'Driscoll clearance kick keeps them under pressure.
68Leinster
Substitution - B Blaney on for B Jackman
69Toulouse
Try - Y Donguy
Toulouse catch fire at last. A half break and offload from Bouilou finds Heymans who races away down the left touchline, jinking in and out before finding substitute Yves Donguy who goes over.
70Toulouse
Conversion - V Courrent
71Leinster
Substitution - S Keogh on for K Gleeson
72LeinsterLeinster are unperturbed by Toulouse's score and attack from depth again. Great play from Dempsey puts his side right up to the Toulouse line and when play breaks down they are awarded the scrum.
72Toulouse
Substitution - G du Toit on for V Courrent
73LeinsterFrom the scrum Contepomi throws a horrible pass which Dempsey does well to deal with but the ball is lost and after some kicking tennis Toulouse find an excellent touch to clear into the Leinster half.
77LeinsterEllisalde drops the ball in the Leinster 22 and Rob Kearney races 60 meters down the left touchline. He is tagged but Leinster are awarded the penalty from the breakdown. They choose to kick to the corner.
79LeinsterLeinster spread the ball and O'Driscoll goes for the line only to be called back by Wayne Barnes for crossing by Luke Fitzgerald but Toulouse only minutes to salvage a win from the match.
80 +1ToulouseSowerby spills a Leinster clearance kick straight into touch gifting them the lineout and probably signalling the end of his side's challenge.
80 +4Leinster
Drop kick - F Contepomi
Leinster continue to press as dynamic runs from Healy and O'Kelly take them close before the mercurial Contepomi strikes a sweet dropped goal to put his side seven clear.
80 +4LeinsterThe final whistle sounds and a magnificent performance from Leinster's pack along with a few touches of class from Contepomi has seen them past an uninspired Leinster side. Jamie Heaslip man-of-the-match.
