Match report
Northampton saints survived a first half scare to overcome a determined Treviso side with a second half try burst.
Flank Benjamin Vermaak got the game off to the perfect start for the visitors as he went over for the opening try after just five minutes.
Saints responded with a Shane Geraghty after 12 minutes but South African born flyhalf Marius Goosen slotted a drop goal on 17 minutes to restore the seven point lead.
Both kickers, Geraghty and Tobias Botes, missed penalty kicks during the first period but it was the Saints who ended the half the better of the two teams - scoring their first try of the afternoon through England fullback Ben Foden on the stroke of half time after Goosen had already added a second drop goal.
Bit Saints hit back, Ben Foden scoring just before half-time while Joe Ansbro added another just after the break. Then wing Chris Ashton scored two tries in seven minutes (46,53) to keep Saints' Heineken Cup hopes alive.
