RC Toulon will do everything in their power to keep World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson in the south of France.
Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal has vowed to keep Wilkinson at the star-studded club at any expense after being impressed by the fly-half's' continued fine form.
"I want to extend his contract and I didn't wait until after Saturday's game to begin discussions", said Boudjellal.
"It's actually my main priority but I'm not very worried.
"The player wants to stay and his president wants to keep him at any price so we should come to an agreement quite quickly."
The all-time highest international points scorer made the move to RC Toulon in 2009 and has made a huge impact at the Top 14 club.
Wilkinson guided them to the Top 14 semi-finals and then the Amlin Challenge Cup Final against Cardiff Blues last season as Toulon established themselves as one of the leading lights in the European game.
The French club had looked in control of that particular match and had led 13-6 at the break against a Blues side aiming to become the first Welsh side to win a European trophy.
But a back injury saw Wilkinson leave the field injured and the Blues fought back to secure a historic 28-21 victory.
Now back to full fitness, Wilkinson continues to pull-the-strings and scored 23 points in Saturday's 28-16 win over French champions Clermont Auvergne.
Toulon make their debut in the Heineken Cup in three weeks time and kick-off their latest European adventure against the Ospreys at Stade Felix Mayol.
Despite last year's relative success, they find themselves in arguably the tournament's toughest pool with two-times winners Munster and London Irish completing the group.
