The squads for this season's Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup tournaments have now been confirmed by the 44 participating clubs.
Among the standout names in the 16th season of Heineken Cup rugby is Wallaby great George Smith.
The Test centurion has been named in the RC Toulon squad following his summer move from the ACT Brumbies and could make his tournament debut at home to the Ospreys on Saturday, October 9.
All Black prop Carl Hayman could also take his Heineken Cup bow in that mouth-watering Pool 3 encounter having swapped Amlin Challenge Cup rugby for Europe's premier club competition as a result of a high-profile switch from Newcastle Falcons.
Springbok trio Ruan Pienaar, Johann Muller and Pedrie Wannenburg have all been named in Ulster's Heineken Cup squad as the Irish side look to make the knockout stages for the first time since their title-winning exploits of 1999.
Familiar faces include previous winners Brian O'Driscoll, Geordan Murphy, Yannick Jauzion, Thierry Dusautoir, Ronan O'Gara and Simon Shaw, while the likes of Martyn Williams, Shane Williams, Chris Paterson and Jonny Wilkinson will be looking to add Heineken Cup glory to their impressive CVs.
There is no shortage of young up-and-coming talent on show either, with England regulars Dan Cole, Ben Youngs, Chris Ashton, Ben Foden and Courtney Lawes all featuring for Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints, while Clermont Auvergne's Morgan Parra, Leinster's Luke Fitzgerald and Richie Gray of Glasgow Warriors are all set to make a contribution that belies their tender years.
It is a similar story when it comes to the Amlin Challenge Cup, too, with a whole host of international stars taking part in the 20-team competition.
James Haskell, Dimitri Szarzewski, Sergio Parisse and Mathieu Bastareaud are all included in a powerful Stade Francais Paris squad, while World Cup winners Mike Tindall, Ben Cohen and Steve Thompson will feature for Gloucester, Sale Sharks and Leeds Carnegie respectively.
