Esteban Lozada, who made his Edinburgh debut in the 16-13 defeat to Munster at the weekend, has been released from hospital having been assessed for the head injury he sustained at Murrayfield.
The Argentinean second row received 15 minutes of treatment on the field before regaining consciousness by the time he was taken to Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary.
Lozada, who signed for the Scottish side from RC Toulon in the summer, will be closely monitored by the Edinburgh medical team before being allowed to train and has already been ruled out of his side's visit to Ulster on Friday evening.
"Esteban was released from hospital having been assessed for a blow to the head," said an Edinburgh Rugby statement.
He will be closely monitored by the Edinburgh medical staff but, at this stage, he is at home and in good spirits."
Edinburgh will hope the Belgium-born lock will be available for selection before the first round of the Heineken Cup when they travel to face Cardiff Blues on Saturday, October 9.
