Ben Blair joined the select band of Kiwis to win a European title and then declared "it was probably the highlight of my career with Cardiff Blues".
The former All Black kicked a vital 10 points in Cardiff Blues' triumph over Toulon in Marseille as they became the first Welsh team to win a European title.
Blair joined the likes of Toulouse scrum-half Byron Kelleher, who became the ninth New Zealander to taste European success in yesterday's Heineken Cup Final, Doug Howlett and Bruce Reihnana in an exclusive list after the Blues ran out 28-21 victors at the Stade Veledrome.
"It is a great feeling and a great result for the club. We had a great run in the Heineken Cup last year, but this is right up there," said Blair, who was part of the Blues side beaten in a heart-breaking penalty shootout by Leicester Tigers in last season's Heineken Cup semi-final.
"It was extremely tough out there playing against some very big boys - and in that sort of heat. We set off at something of a slowish pace, but it showed the character of the side to come back and win.
"We did the little things correctly and that played a big part in us getting a fantastic result."
